We are excited to host Dr. Jaspreet Singh during our SICR meetup in May. Dr. Singh currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI, and as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in developmental neurogenetics at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, before joining Henry Ford Health. Dr. Singh earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab, India, in 2006. With over 30 research papers published in refereed international journals, Dr. Singh’s work focuses on understanding the mechanisms of neuroprotection in brain neurons and glial cells, particularly in response to subtoxic stimulations of glutamatergic receptors. His research is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Henry Ford Health, and industry sponsors. Dr. Singh is actively involved in various scientific societies, journal editorial boards, and grant review committees. He serves as a member of the scientific advisory board for rare metabolic diseases at POXEL and contributes to the clinical trial readiness workgroup for adrenoleukodystrophy. His primary research interests lie in pediatric neurodevelopmental disorders, with a special emphasis on peroxisomal single enzyme deficiency disorders.
