EUROFINS SCIENTIFIC : Eurofins awards first Indoor Air Comfort Gold Certificate to Knauf Insulation GmbH

Actusnews01/04/2010 à 12:30

1st April 2010

Eurofins Scientific is pleased to announce that it has awarded its first Indoor Air Comfort Gold Standard certificate to Knauf Insulation GmbH, completed as part of the new Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold standard testing and certification programme. Knauf's new product, launched as part of its ECOSE® technology range of revolutionary new mineral wool solutions delivering superior environmental sustainability, is an unfaced glass mineral wool and has met all of the defined requirements and therefore is certified as an outstanding material according to the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Indoor Air Quality emissions regulations.

Insulation in housing is becoming more and more popular all over Europe as sustainability and energy-saving become fundamental parts of buildings construction. The materials used must meet the requirements needed to ensure a healthy and safe Indoor Air Quality. Consequently demand is growing for testing of VOC and formaldehyde emissions from insulation materials to ensure this. Knauf Insulation is one of the leading and fastest-growing global insulation manufacturers. Their launch of sustainable insulation products is in line with a long-held culture of environmental stewardship and commitment to be at the forefront of sustainability. "We are very pleased our mineral wool with ECOSE® Technology has been awarded the Eurofins' Indoor Air Quality Gold Standard. It is the broadest standard available today and meets all existing criteria with regards to Indoor Air Quality across Europe", said David Ducarme, Group Technical Director of Knauf Insulation. "This recognition by Eurofins underpins Knauf Insulation's efforts to provide customers with innovative products which also meet the growing market demand for more sustainable construction materials."

Eurofins developed its Indoor Air Comfort Gold standard in order to allow the construction and furnishing industries to show their own customers a high level of product performance. This new classification combines the best available techniques in VOC-measurement together with a strict certification process. Based on in-house expertise on product emission testing, one of the core competencies of Eurofins' laboratory in Galten, Denmark, this new harmonised standard was created as one way in which Eurofins can contribute to improving indoor air quality and provide security for both industry and end-users.

Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Certification programme combines the criteria of mandatory and voluntary product regulation set up by national organisations and private labelling bodies, such as Blue Angel, M1, AgBB, AFSSET and more. This ensures that a certified product meets the highest possible standard for the relevant product group as well as ensuring compliance with any subsequent third-party audit. Without seeking to re-invent the wheel, this certification shows compliance with all relevant European specifications and as a result, a certified product can apply for any other relevant label on the basis of its Eurofins "Indoor Air Comfort Gold Standard" certification.  In addition, as the certification process is based on a continuous process of testing and auditing, it shows not only the current status but also gives reassurance for future compliance as the certified company undergoes a continuous testing and auditing programme.

Reinhard Oppl, Director VOC Testing at Eurofins comments "We have only just introduced this new harmonised label, but as it combines the specifications of all relevant European labels such as Blue Angel, M1, AgBB and AFSSET it puts itself at the top of the VOC emissions control schemes. For this reason we are convinced that the Indoor Air Comfort Gold label will be recognised throughout Europe within a short period of time."

Eurofins is well known as a leading international provider of VOC emissions testing, capable of analysing a wide range of products and building materials such as flooring products, adhesives, insulation materials, paints and varnishes. The Group is continuously improving the services and quality levels on offer to its partners in industry and provides customer-related solutions to their requirements. In addition to its ISO 17025 accreditation, Eurofins is recognized and accredited by national authorities throughout Europe, particularly in Germany and France, as well as in California. It is also a member of the USGBC (US Green Building Council) and DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council). Eurofins' test reports are accepted by a huge variety of voluntary labels focusing on VOC emission testing.

Eurofins has recently invested in enlarging the testing capacities for product emission testing in Galten, including more than 60 VOC climate chambers. This takes the laboratory's capability to more than 120 chambers for material testing, putting it at the top of the World's testing facilities for VOC emissions testing from products and materials. Furthermore, as part of the Eurofins Group's global network of laboratories, it means that customers can take advantage of a unique and comprehensive portfolio of tests anywhere they choose around the world.

Note d'information importante

Vos connaissances, Votre profil d'investisseur

Adaptez votre durée de placement (1 mois, 1 an, 5 ans, …)

Cordialement,
L'équipe de Boursorama Banque.
