Lyon, 11th September 2007 - Specialising in the sale of consumable goods, VDI Group operates in 2 fields of activity: health-hygiene-safety at work and portable energy.

Sustained strong growth

In the 1st half of 2007, VDI Group sustained its dynamic growth to attain a turnover of ¤21.42m, compared with ¤19.61m pro forma* over the same period of 2006. This 9.2% growth falls perfectly in line with the objectives set by VDI Group for the whole financial year.

** Including on 1st January 2006 France Ouate Industrie acquired on 15th May 2006 over 6 months.

Each of the Group divisions contributes to this performance. On 30th June 2007, the composition of turnover per division was as follows:

  • Health and Safety at Work: 56% of the overall activity
  • Portable Energy: 44% of the overall activity

Over the half, VDI Group successfully finalised the integration of France Ouate Industrie in terms of organisation, accounting and IT. The entire inventory of this new subsidiary has been relocated to the extended Corbas site, near Lyon (5,500m2).
The Shenzhen office (Southern China), set up in 2006, is now fully operational. This office optimises transport costs (mixed containers for the different Group divisions) and the design of new product ranges made in Asia.

Streamlining of the Group's legal structure

To increase the Group's transparency and optimise the organisation, the Group's Management will propose an overhaul of the legal structure at the upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting  after prior consultation with the staff representation authorities, which will cover:

  • The creation of 2 new subsidiaries, Health and Safety at Work France and Portable Energy France, currently operating under the VDI Group holding company.
  • Furthermore, a project to amalgamate the France Ouate Industrie and Medical Health Service subsidiaries under the France Ouate Industrie entity will be implemented in the last quarter of 2007.

2007, another year of growth

The second half of 2007 will witness the creation of a new "1000 & One Batteries" shop in October in Paris.

Given the results achieved in the first half, the development momentum sweeping over the second half and the proposed measures, VDI Group is confident that it will attain its objectives for the current financial year. 2007 turnover should thus experience growth of 9 to 11% compared to 2006.
