Lyon, 15 June 2010

French international Jimmy Briand has signed a four-year contract with Olympique Lyonnais.

The international striker, who passed his medical exam today, is the second player to join OL during the current summer trading window, following the promising young French international Jérémy Pied, who has returned from being on loan.

The amount of the transfer was €6 million.

League titles once again for the women's and CFA teams

The women's team won their league title for the fourth consecutive time this past weekend, matching the Toulouse club's record performance.

The first French club to play in the final round of the UEFA Women's Champions League--in May against the Potsdam (Germany) team--OL will take part next season in the Champions League for the 4th consecutive time.

Meanwhile, the CFA team won the league title of professional reserves teams for the 2nd consecutive time, giving OL a 2nd national title this season.

Other young teams also excelled. The U17 squad played the semi-final round of their league championship, and the U19s finished in 2nd place in their league.

Lastly, the men's professional team, managed by Claude Puel, having finished 2nd in Ligue 1, will take part in the Champions League for the 11th consecutive time, as only Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester United have done. OL reached the semi-final round of the competition this year.
