Lyon, 28 May 2010
The quality and professionalism of France's candidacy and the active support of the French president and his government convinced the European football authorities that our country was the best placed to host this prestigious international football competition.
France's plan is ambitious. Several new-generation stadiums will be built and several others renovated to meet UEFA's requirements and accommodate both fans and players under optimal conditions.
In this regard, Olympique Lyonnais will pursue its new stadium project with even more determination alongside its partners (French government, Greater Lyon, Rhône General Council, Sytral, town of Décines), elected officials, associations and the residents of Greater Lyon. One of the determining factors in France's winning the bid, the stadium will give the Lyon area European exposure and will contribute to its economic development.
Olympique Lyonnais is delighted that hundreds of regional companies and thousands of jobseekers will be able, through this project, to give tangible expression to their aspirations: create wealth and jobs for all citizens.
