GROUPE STERIA : The Public Society for Information and Communication Technologies for the French-speaking community (ETNIC) has chosen Steria to develop a pilot scheme for a software infrastructure to manage and control application access

As part of the modernisation of the public services, the French-speaking community in Belgium has entrusted ETNIC, the Public Society for Information and Communication Technologies with implementing and running its professional applications for a wide range of users (civil servants, teachers, pupils). The challenge entails perfectly managing access to the right resources by the right people at the right time. In order to manage the various populations of users, Steria is developing a software infrastructure to manage and control identities and authorisations.

ETNIC is the information centre of the Ministry of the French-speaking community in Belgium. It mainly deals with teaching and culture. In order to manage more effectively a large number of users with very different needs (civil servants, teachers, pupils) and a large variety of IT tools, ETNIC must rely on a software structure to manage and control identities and authorisations. Steria’s solution takes into account the various objectives of ETNIC. The solution will effectively manage access rights of various user populations involved with the wide range of applications of the French-speaking community. Thanks to a centralised management structure, it is possible to know who has access to what at any time and to carry out checks. The solution proposed by Steria is very flexible and has a very rich metadirectory structure that centralises identities, organisations, functional roles and authorisations. The solution provides as standard a number of interfaces to ETNIC application execution platforms.

This new application will simplify the tasks of the administration departments. By enabling the automation of procedures to allocate and deleted access rights, the workload for administering users will decrease and ETNIC will therefore be able to deal with a greater number of users.

Steria will start phase 1 of the project which consists of creating a pilot to validate the solution. Phase 2 will deal with the installation of the full infrastructure. Phase 3 will include maintenance and technical support services.
