Steria virtualizes its own datacenter with VMware software to offer dynamic, cloud-based services to public and private sector organizations
November 18, 2010 --Steria and VMware today announced a technology partnership that will enable Steria to deliver dynamic, cloud-based IT services to its European customers.
Steria, which provides high added-value services built on the most innovative technologies, is today one of the first European cloud computing companies to offer its clients an immediate cloud solution.
Steria has selected VMware technologies to further strengthen its own virtualized infrastructure and further build out its cloud services offering. As a result, Steria will be able to speed up the transformation of its clients' information systems into agile, cloud environments that deliver resources on demand and provide better SLAs for end users. The agreement includes the deployment of VMware vSphere(TM) 4.1, the latest version of the award-winning VMware virtualization platform, in addition to consulting services and training.
VMware technology is now one of the cornerstones of Steria's On Command Infrastructure solution, a flexible and secure platform which allows customers to pay for the computing power they use, when they need it.
VMware vSphere 4.1 enables the deployment of solid cloud computing foundations by bringing together an open-ended pool of IT resources accessible on demand; driving performance through advanced automation and management tools. VMware vSphere is an open platform that maximizes interconnections to existing systems and provides the freedom to migrate between clouds.
"This partnership is a strategic component of our On Command Infrastructure solution recently jointly announced with Cisco. More than a simple technological choice, this partnership is the culmination of strategic discussions with VMware regarding the provision of virtualization and cloud solutions which fulfill the requirements of both clients and their markets. This agreement further strengthens Steria's ability to manage complex large-scale projects" stated Karine Brunet, Steria Group's Director of Industrialized Service Lines.
"We are excited to partner with Steria to enable the agility and performance of cloud computing for customers. Leveraging the VMware cloud infrastructure platform, Steria can significantly reduce the cost and complexity of customer environments to deliver IT as a service." - Carl Eschenbach, Executive Vice President, Global Field Operations VMware.
