Steria today announced a substantial extension to its existing contract with Centrica, a leading integrated energy company, which will see additional benefits, including Legacy Application Maintenance and support, applied to its current testing services.
The extended 12 months partnership, which began in January 2010, is worth an additional ¤802k (£712k) to the existing ¤3,400,000 (£3,000,000) support contract. It will see Steria support Centrica's Meter Industry Flow Simplification Programme. This is part of the Metering Industry Process Simplification initiative, which itself is part of a larger transformation aimed at delivering Smart Metering solutions to Centrica customers.
In order to ensure that programme objectives are met, Centrica requires an in-depth understanding of their current metering applications and systems and how industry data process is managed. Steria has the required system and industry knowledge as well as experience gained through changing some of Centrica's legacy applications and systems.
The partnership will see Steria provide 21 employees, consisting of system and testing analysts five based onshore, including the test manager; the remainder offshore in Noida, India.
John Torrie, Steria UK and India CEO, commented "Centrica's initiative is certainly at the leading edge of this type of implementation in the energy industry. Metering is core to Centrica's business and we are delighted to be providing accurate metering data, ultimately leading to more efficient business processes and better customer services."
"The extension of our relationship is a testament to Steria's understanding of Centrica's systems and the industry processes," says Paul Mayhew, Applications Manager at Centrica, "Steria's expertise will be crucial during the operation of this programme."
